Ta Da!

My laundry room finally has a new look.....

It's rather long and narrow room and doesn't like to be photographed, but here it is...

Since my last LR postings, I added the "rug" I made out of painters drop clothe.
And I made a place to hang my ironing board, my bed room will miss it!  : )

  Here is the "before" picture.

I decided for right now not to paint the cabinets and add pulls.
It looks so much better that I can wait on doing that when I have more time.

Have a good weekend everybody!

More LR....

There is this space for an extra refrigerator in my laundry room.
I don't have one. I don't need one either, well except for at holidays.

It's a useful space; there's a bar to hang clothes, and it's where I keep my floor steamer and broom.

But it's an ugly area. You can't make it pretty. So I decide to cover it up.

When I bought my drop clothe to make my canvas rug for the LR, I had 1/2 left over.
That's what I used to make the curtain out of.
But I thought it looked a little plain. So I transferred and painted a little on it.
Now "I like it lots!"

It's hung loose, so I can easily slide it down out of the way and still hang clothes on the bar.
But when that bar isn't being used, I'm gonna pull the curtain closed.

The other thing I hung was a little window treatment.
I already had this panel,  and I had bought the large safety pin from Hobby Lobby months ago on clearance.

One of my goals has been to spend as little as possible sprucing up my LR.
So far I'm doing really good.
Everything I've used I've either already had, or bought/made really cheap.
Almost done!

Laundry Room con't...

The second thing on my list that I really wanted to change in the laundry room was this.....

It's a singular standing cabinet next to my washer/dryer.
I was afraid of taking it up, because I don't think there is flooring underneath it : ( so it needs to stay.
But the laminate top had to go, or at least disappear.

My husband made me this wooden top.
It just slides right over the old laminate. Such a simple thing, but what a difference it makes.
It fits really snug and you wouldn't know there was anything under it by looking at it .

I sanded and stained it to match my platforms he made for the washer & dryer.

Happy Monday Everybody!

Laundry Room

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything.
There are two reasons for that;

One, I've gone back to school and it's taking up the majority of my time and focus these days.

And second, in my spare time I've been working on my laundry room.
It's been sitting virtually untouched since we moved in almost a year and a 1/2 ago now.

So, my laundry room...I started with what needed fixing the most...
with the help of my husband.

My front loaders are too low, but there was no way I was going to spend $500 on those platforms that would raise them higher than I wanted them anyway.
That's where my husband comes in....

I knew he wouldn't want me to spend that, and I also knew he could make
me what I wanted for $30.

He made me some heavy duty wooden platforms.
These make my washer and dyer the perfect height both for me, and for the cabinets hanging down above them.

Then I stained them with a dark walnut color.
He left them open in the front so I can clean under them and retrieve lost socks.

Here's what they look like under the washer and dryer.
I love them!

My laundry room is coming along nicely as I am finally settling into my school routine and I find more time to work on it.
I will be posting pictures as it all comes together.

I've decided to "paint" a rug for it!
Stay tuned!

Moving Things Around

My dining room has been sitting untouched since I put away my
Christmas decorations. And even though it has been easier
to dust like this, I decided it was time to decorate.

First I changed out the mirror with the one from the living area. Then
I brought out some Limoges plates I bought years ago on clearance at a Horchow's Outet.
Next, I changed out some wall hangings, and brought in one of my Santo's dolls to keep an eye on everything.

So then, I decided my curio cabinet was moving out, and my white hutch was moving in.
Sorry about the awful picture of the curio cabinet, I didn't think to take a descent picture before I got started.

I really didn't have to do very much, but it feels better.
However, there is a small table in my dining room
that I'm wanting to paint : ) But I'll save that for another post!

Have a safe and restful weekend!
